iFax: Send & Receive Fax App App Reviews

Great idea… now if only it worked!

I didn’t want to take an hour out of my day and spend $10 to drive downtown and send a fax from the office supply store, so I found myself thinking, "There must be an app for that…" Sure enough, there’s an app! Only problem is, after I paid for the fax it told me the number provided is not a valid fax number or is unable to receive my fax. I tried resending several times, as well as creating an entirely new fax and sending that - no dice. The number is a perfectly normal US (1) Georgia (404) number. So I had to drive downtown and send it from the office supply store anyway, but now I’m also out $2 for the "outbound fax". I’m sure there are times when it sends successfully, but with no way to know in advance whether you’ll be one of the lucky ones, it’s not a good buy.

Five updates in the month of June 2017

App works fine but havng to update so many times in one month for a list of the exact same “improvment” details under "What’s New in Version 3.X”. I’ll be looking elsewhere for a fax app maker that is less insecure.

Are you kidding me?

SIX updates in under 20 days? I mean it works well, but why so many? Im unistalling until I actually need to use it.

“Invalid Fax Number"

The app would not send a fax and keep generating the error. The fax number is a known good fax number. Missed a very important deadline. Previous versions worked much better. I would stay away until an update is relased to resolve the issues with 3.4.3 and they acknowldge the fix

The revised edition does not work. The old version was much better. It is impossible to edit or send a fax effectively.

A good fax program

Only downgrading to 4 stars because the updates are WAY too frequent. Ive had 5 new versions in just a few days. If theyre bug fixes, do the software better.

The application works okay, but isn’t especially intuitive. On the performance side, after paying $2 to fax five pages plus a cover page, I expect the recipient to be able to read the pages. They were essentially illegible, which forced me to use the US Postal Service—something I was hoping to avoid. The puzzling thing is that earlier versions did not perform so poorly.

good with a few problems

I had to choose a fax number for myself. Unfortunately, all of the phone options for my entire state was unavailable. I had to choose a number from a different state. The rest of the fax went smoothly.

Like it .. no tangible confirmation, but .. works great

Current Release 3.1: Found previous releases more user friendly. This one also has crashed every time I have tried to add an attachment to the fax I am composing. Tried 6 times … crashed every time. Anyone have any other suggestions for other fax apps for MacBook Pro and devices? Previous Release Review: I don’t do al ot of faxing. Also, while I have a scan/print/fax device, I can’t stand looking for the phone line to connect to the device. So, this is a wonderful option and I can pay the small fee per fax within iTunes. No hassle. There is a fee for unlimited incoming faxes, but again … who faxes any more? I tell them to send to me via PDF to my emails. All in all … good and cost effective solution.

Awesome on Mac!

I loved this app on my iPhone but having this on my Mac is simply ideal...

fax from your mac

This is a great app. I recently needed to fax some signed documents I had scanned, and iFax made it really easy. Sending faxes is really simple and the fax sent right away. I didn’t experience any problems, and I found the app easy to use. My only complaint would be the misleading “get a FREE fax #”. The number is only free for 7 days — an incoming fax number is regularly $17.99/mo. It would be nice to have a pay-per-use incoming fax number option instead as most people likely do not fax enough to justify subscribing to a number.

Fax send failure

Fax would not send and would not provide a reason and no help to figure out why it wouldn’t send.

Works very well, but real slow

So as many have written, had a need to fax arise recently and didn’t have the tools. Land line is long gone and scanning/emailing have all but eliminated the traditional fax. iFax came to the rescue, installed easy like any lot Mac OS software, controls were straight forward, options were plentiful, but the cost per page of sending a fax extremely high. In today’s world, there is nothing costly about servers, interface hardware, or internet bandwidth, so this is puzzling. iFax for very low usage is perfect…highly recommend... iFax for low to high sending usage (page count) is not price competitive. I have not tried the free receive number functionality.

Works Flawlessly

This app works great. I like the feature that allows you to combine multiple files together. Adobe requires you to subscribe to their products for $14.95 a month just to do that one things.

Works for me, faxing to China

I have to fax documents to China from the USA. Definitely works well for me. Many of the other fax programs I have tried won’t work, this one does work.

iFax leaves I Frustrated

I don’t know if the other reviewers actually used this app, but i couldn’t get it to work. the first attempt left the app locked up. I had to force quit the app and restart it to make another attempt. The second attempt was another failure. I contacted Ifax via their web message system and received my first reply the next day. My second inquiry has yet to be answered after two days. I could think of more colorful nicknames that more accurately represent this fraud of an app, but I will leave it alone. Bottom line: try another fax app, this one will leave you frustrated and furious.

Watch, There would be NO CANCEL Option!

I downloaded it. I couldn’t even use it sice my 8 page fax was above trial limit. Now I am struggling to cancel it and I am not able. All subscriptions have an option for CANCEL in ITune Apple Store, but not this one. & Could you believe to only recieve Faxes you have to pay $18 a month!!!!!! My 1 star rating is because otherwise doesn’t let me submit

Where’s the Free Trial?

It made me pay $2.99 to send my fax. I’m not sure how these promote free trial and immediately required payment to send a fax. Not satisfied so far.

So far so good

A quasi emergency situation required an outgoing FAX immediatly so a desperate google search "fax +mac" came up with iFax. After download and setup I hit SEND and it took about 4 minutes for the process to complete which had my worried for a moment because it appeared to have stalled but it did finish with a detailed confermation alert. From downloading to completion took about ten minutes. I was moving so fast i didnt look for or try the free trial. If you purchase $9.99 worth of credit your paying .63 / page. I have not read up yet on the incoming side of the service. I have a late 2015 iMac 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5 8 gig ram I am happy so far :-)
